Practice Log:
I spent 30 minutes with the Carrera bow I bought last night. Like the title says, I still like it. No buyer's remorse.
The sound it produces seems "outside" of my violin, with great resonance. Also can stop on a dime when I need it to. I can't wait to learn the burl on this bow.
I have to be careful of bow pressure--be mindful of how much tension I have. Relax! It's not a tractor pull!
However, the Goldsteel Evah Pirazzi E string I'm not a fan of. Time to change it out, probably for the regular Evah Pirazzi E or the Gold Label E. Either one is better on this fiddle.
I spent almost all of my time tonight on Bonaparte's Retreat in DDAD. I love that song - learned it from youtube from Ian Walsh. His version is very much like a bagpipe with a sustained drone. I don't know how to do that yet so I'm using detached bows. But it sounds pretty good and the bow and fiddle combination is pushing me forward.
