Practice Log Feb 6, 2018

Getting used to the 2 octave C and D major scales. It's feeling more and more natural for shifting on the 3rd position.

D major on the E string is still a bit shakey.

Spent the bulk of the time on Sleepin Soond in da Mornin' and Ragtime Annie. It's going to take a lot of practice to get Ragtime Annie to sound "convincing."

Great recording from Kenny Baker in 1970.

Spent about 10 min with the octave violin, just going through the Rejected Lover (also known as the Rejected Suitor).

I can do the first section now from memory. I need to learn how to play part B. Even after listening to it I still can't get the notes and rhythms to sound right. More practice needed! I think this is going to be my Valentine's Day song. I know what irony.

The fiddle version approximately close to what I'm learning:

I switched back and forth between my old bow and my new bow, and there's a significant audible difference. The new bow is much more resonant, with a brighter sound. The old bow, while comfortable and familiar, has a stiff sound.
