Spent first part in DDAD, combination of Bonaparte's Retreat and Washington's March. I'm refining the sound, and double stops sound pretty good in DDAD. I've started practicing Ian Walsh's continuous droning in Bonaparte's retreat.
This fiddle continues to excel in DDAD tuning. Takes the edge off, and the entire fiddle sings.
Back into standard for Katie McNally's The Rejected Lover, which is a really pipy tune that I like.
It's broken up in 4 sentences, each with 2 phrases and a refrain. I've done sentence A, and started working on sentence B.
For the last few minutes I went back to Cape Breton Jigs, and started comparing my old bow to this new one. I definitely prefer the sound of the new bow. It's a bit heavier so my hand gets tired earlier, but the trick is to let the heavier bow do the work for me. I shouldn't force it, shouldn't give it too much tension. The issue of the bow hair tension collapsing is still present, but I have to be much more mindful of my technique now. Also, there are more gradations in volume. I can do dynamic markings now, and I should take care to express them.
